The Great Divas of Gospel
Sept. 30, 2016, New York, NY – Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, may not know it yet but there’s quintet of gospel singers who believe in her candidacy and are singing her praises. Known as The Great Divas of Gospel, these ladies offer much encouragement to Hillary through the lyrics of their song, “Run Hillary, Run!” Lady Peachena the founder of the group said: “We have witnessed some of the great things that Hillary has done for the African American community without cameras and without fanfare, and we want her to know that her labor of love has not been in vain.”
Lady Peachena originally wrote the song in 2000 when Hillary was running for the office of State Senator of New York, but she lost the lyrics and the recording. So the song was never presented to Hillary. However, she found the lyrics hidden in her file cabinet earlier this year, and brought The Great Divas of Gospel back into the studio to re-record the song, “Run, Hillary, Run” with a new arrangement just for Hillary. The song’s catchy lyrics and the Divas’ rich, harmonious voices will surely find you humming along with the upbeat song.
The Great Divas of Gospel have been singing together for 23 years, and they are cast members of an electrifying show by the same name, “THE GREAT DIVAS OF GOSPEL,” which pays a powerful tribute to the female pioneers of Gospel music like: The Clara Ward Singers, The Famous Caravans, The Roberta Martin Singers,The Famous Davis Sisters, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Gospel’s Queen of course, Mahalia Jackson. Cast members are Debbie Sargeant, Betty Cooks, Sonia Price, Lynda K. Smith, & the show’s playwright, Lady Peachena.
