“Parivara” a film by Alex Lora and Alex Kruz will premiere at the 36th Annual Cambridge Film Festival (British Academy of Film and Television Arts Qualifying).
According to directors Lora and Kruz: “The title “Parivara” means “Family” in Nepalese. Family, Home, Heaven, and Hell; They are all tied together. They are concepts we can all relate to as children or adults. You can have everything or nothing, but whether you “see” or find a “family” and a “home” in your circumstances can be all the difference in happiness.
We are very honored to be selected by the Cambridge Film Festival for our premiere. We feel that since our work was for the children, having it be part of such a prestigious and wide reaching festival helps our goal of making the children visible and giving their stories a voice.
When we started the project we agreed any prize money or donations would go in full towards the project of building a permanent home for the children and their caretakers. The children enjoyed helping make the movie with us and we loved the idea of doing something creative with them. For us and them it was “playtime”, in the process we learned a lot from each other and felt our lives were a little bit more meaningful from the experience.”
The Cambridge Film Festival describes itself as “tracking filmmakers across the globe to bring discoveries and surprises from both up-and-coming and established talent.”
Launched in 1977, it has become one of the most prestigious in the UK, hosting a dizzying number of premieres each year. City Screen, the UK’s top independent film company produces the Cambridge Film Festival as well as controls the Picturehouse network.
